TALENT is a modular, integrated and scaleable automation platform
specifically designed for test facility automation. In simple data acquisition
and supervisory control applications, such as on-road testing and typical test
stands, the systems do not need specific application programming. However, in
many wind tunnel applications, custom application programming is required.
The integrated environment encompasses all aspects of the testing
process, from test planning (non-real-time), through test execution (real-time),
to data upload to corporate data bases.
The TALENT V4 platform is designed with an open
architecture, which allows facility specific components, e.g. control systems or data systems, to be added at any time
by the client as the capabilities of the test
facility change. Updates to the TALENT V4 automation kernel can be installed
without affecting the facility specific control or data systems.
The TALENT V4 platform offers:
- Increased productivity, through end-to-end automation
- Test data integrity, through documented traceable testing from
calibration to procedure execution
- Scaleability, through distributed component design
- Maintainability, through use of add-in components and through adherence
to versioning
- Versatility and flexibility. TALENT is the only automation platform in
the world that has been used in a full range of wind tunnels, from
automotive climatic facilities to high speed M4 facilities, with widely
different control and data bandwidth requirements
- Non-obsolescence, with continuous development and backward compatible
upgrades since 1984
TALENT is a vertically integrated automation platform, it provides
support for:
- Test engineers to define tests using standard test types
- Test engineers to define new test types with data configurations, test procedures
and reports
- Operators to execute pre-defined or ad-hoc tests, automatically,
semi-automatically, or manually
- Test engineers to monitor tests, review the
time-stamped operation log, generate reports automatically or manually
- Technicians to diagnose the process systems, using built-in tools
- Instrumentation technicians to calibrate and review the calibration
history, or to import / export calibration data
- Facility manager to monitor facility usage (e.g. by projects) and equipment
usage (e.g. for cost allocation)
The most important discriminator for the TALENT system is the vertical
integration of all the functions involved in testing, from preparation, through
execution, to management.
