TALENT V4 Physical Architecture
TALENT is a scaleable system, it can be installed on one or more
Commercial-Off-The-Shelf PCs.
The number of PCs chosen is usually dependent on the
application and on the client preference, e.g. separation of control and data systems, the computing
power required for certain functions, e.g. direct digital control of test
conditions, and son afety philosophy, e.g. separate PLC based safety system etc.
Test stands and in-vehicle (road test) applications are usually based on a
single PC implementation.
Wind tunnels and other more complex facilities are usually based on multi-PC
implementation. A
typical multi-PC integrated automation system has the following components:
- Windows Domain Controller (for security only, usually provided
by the client's IT department)
- Automation and control system(s)
- Independent PLC safety system
- General purpose and special purpose data acquisition and
recording system(s)
- Automated report generation system
- Operator's Graphical User Interface
Workstations with up to 7 interconnected monitors
- Test Engineer's run-time experiment
monitoring Graphical User Interface
